Wipe out ‘traitors’ to unity govt, Anwar urges voters
Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim says he had opposed attempts by Perikatan Nasional to declare Umno illegal.
BANGI: Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim has called for the people of Selangor to “wipe out” the political careers of those who had betrayed the parties in the unity government.
Without naming anyone, Anwar said that the voters should kick out traitors at the state elections on Aug 12.
“If one has the look of a traitor, let’s kick them out immediately,” he said at the launch of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) election machineries in Bandar Baru Bangi last night.
He claimed that when Perikatan Nasional was in the government, it’s chairman (Muhyiddin Yassin) tried to have Umno declared an illegal party.
“I was Umno’s adversary then, but I did not agree with the evil plan to make Umno an illegal party,” he said.
“Yet, now there are some Umno members who seem to be their (PN) admirers.”
Anwar urged PH and BN election workers to cooperate in order to secure victory.
“We want everything to be done with passion, sincerity and the right intention to save the people, the state from those who are greedy for power,” he said.
He called for party members from both coalitions not to let the country be ruined by religious extremists and narrow-minded racism.
“This should be proven by our success in the state elections,” Anwar said.
He also defended DAP, his coalition partner in PH, which had come under attack on racial and religious grounds.
“They keep saying that DAP is an enemy of Islam. They keep lying,” he said. “When we added allocations for the Muslims, DAP did not object, instead it gave its full cooperation.”
