Sex scandal allegation meant to tarnish my reputation, says Melaka exco
Rais Yasin says a viral post linking him to an alleged sex scandal was perpetuated by his political enemies.
PETALING JAYA: Melaka executive councillor Rais Yasin has dismissed an allegation linking him to corruption and a sex scandal, saying the claim was aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
Rais, the state executive councillor for housing, said the allegation was perpetuated by his “political enemies” to discredit him as they were unhappy with his performance, especially after he was elected as the Tangga Batu Umno chief during the party elections last month.
“I don’t want to get caught up in this matter as my focus is on helping Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh to develop the state,” he told reporters in Bachang, Melaka, earlier today.
On Monday, an alleged scandal between a Melaka executive councillor and a woman went viral on Facebook.
The post contained a video clip and WhatsApp messages purportedly of the state executive councillor engaging in an obscene conversation with a woman.
Rauf then said the allegation was slander and a smear that could happen to anyone. He said there were various forms of defamation that could easily spread on social media.
Rais said there was a possibility the video clip had been fabricated, adding that he had never given or received bribes of any manner, including sexual favours.
He said those responsible for producing the video should apologise to allow him and other state representatives to focus on prioritising the development of Melaka and the welfare of its people.
