Sanusi in trouble again as 2 reports lodged over alleged vulgar remarks
Two DAP lawmakers say Sanusi Nor’s reference to the male genitalia in a public speech is unacceptable and an offence.
PETALING JAYA: Two DAP elected representatives have lodged separate police reports against Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor for allegedly making vulgar and offensive remarks at a recent Perikatan Nasional ceramah.
Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid and Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim want the police to investigate him over a speech where he made a reference to the male genitalia.
Syerleena said in a statement that Sanusi’s crude reference, which “disregarded the gender composition of the audience”, had “created a toxic atmosphere” and reflected poorly on him as a leader.
She claimed that Sanusi’s remarks could be classified as an offence under Section 505 of the Penal Code for making statements conducive to public mischief.
Meanwhile, Lim said it was unbecoming of a menteri besar to make such a vulgar remark.
“He’s a menteri besar but he makes such a remark in public. I would be ashamed to have a menteri besar who acts this way,” Lim said.
Last year, Sanusi came under fire for making an allegedly degrading comment about women contesting for the Sik parliamentary seat.
Sanusi reportedly criticised Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan for fielding women candidates for the seat, claiming it would be beyond their capabilities to serve the vast rural electorate.
