DAP MPs rubbish claims of being ‘detained’ in Cyberjaya
PETALING JAYA: Two DAP MPs have dismissed a claim by an opposition leader that government backbenchers are being “detained” in Cyberjaya, where the prime minister and his Cabinet are attending a retreat.
Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong said the claim was baseless as he was presently in Melaka.
Khoo, however, said he was not surprised that the opposition had resorted to such claims.
“He is no different from other Perikatan Nasional leaders,” he told FMT, referring to Shafiq Abdul Halim, who sits on Bersatu’s information committee.
“The PAS president also often makes baseless claims nor does he correct claims linking DAP to (former Singapore prime minister) Lee Kuan Yew and (former communist leader) Chin Peng despite knowing it is fake.”
Shafiq had earlier today made the claim in a video that was uploaded on Facebook.
He had asked if the move to “detain” the MPs was done because Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim feared that his government would be replaced.
Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan told Shafiq not to talk nonsense.
“I am at home where I just watched a trailer for Persona 3 Reload on YouTube,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter, referring to a video game.
Meanwhile, PKR’s Adam Adli, who is the MP for Hang Tuah Jaya, wondered if Shafiq was “high”.
Anwar and 31 ministers are attending a two-day retreat at the Cyberview Resort & Spa.
According to the Prime Minister’s Department, the retreat was held to allow Anwar to brief the attendees on the government’s direction and strategy.
